NTFRS RECRUITMENT STEPS & HOW THE AFA CAN HELP
Stage 1: Application
Candidates begin by completing an online application form with clear responses to four questions. AFA’s Resume Builder Course ensures your application is professional and impactful, while Application Readiness Course ensures all eligibility requirements and documentation are met.
Stage 2: Online Assessment
This stage involves ability tests covering communication, problem-solving, and mechanical reasoning. AFA’s Cognitive Aptitude Course equips candidates with strategies and practice materials to confidently tackle these assessments.
Stage 3: PAT 1 (Shuttle Run)
Candidates are tested on cardiovascular endurance through the beep test, requiring a level of 9.6 to pass. The Beep Test/Shuttle Run Course provides tailored training to build the stamina and pacing needed to succeed.
Stage 4: Group Exercise
In-person group assessments test teamwork and communication skills. AFA’s Group Interview Course helps candidates excel by developing collaborative and problem-solving abilities essential for this stage.
Stage 5: Psychometric Test
Personality evaluations assess alignment with firefighter expectations. AFA’s Psychometric Personality Course prepares candidates to approach these assessments with confidence and clarity.
Stage 6: Driver History and Tattoos
Documentation, including a Driver Licence History Report, must meet NTFRS requirements. The Application Readiness Course guides candidates on gathering and presenting this information accurately.
Stage 7: Interviews
Candidates participate in interviews designed to assess suitability for the firefighter role. AFA’s Panel Interview Course prepares candidates to deliver professional, structured responses that highlight their skills and align with NTFRS values.
Stage 8: PAT 2 (Simulated Tasks)
This physically demanding test involves completing 11 simulated tasks within a time frame. AFA’s PAT Course builds the strength and endurance needed to perform under pressure.
Final Stage: Medical Assessment
Candidates undergo comprehensive medical evaluations. The Medical Screening Course ensures candidates understand and meet all health-related requirements, including necessary documentation and clearances.
Post-Employment: Recruit Training
Upon passing all stages, candidates transition into recruit training. AFA’s Recruit Course Prep Course ensures candidates are physically, mentally, and emotionally prepared to start their training with confidence. The Fortnightly Online Sessions with Firefighters provide ongoing mentorship, allowing candidates to gain insights from experienced professionals as they prepare to join NTFRS.
