TFS RECRUITMENT STEPS & HOW THE AFA CAN HELP
Stage 1: Written Application
Candidates submit a written application. AFA’s Resume Builder Course helps candidates craft professional, impactful applications that meet TFS standards. The Application Readiness Course ensures all eligibility criteria are met and documentation is accurate.
Stage 2: Physical Fitness Assessment – Shuttle Run
Candidates must complete a shuttle run (beep test) to assess cardiovascular fitness. AFA’s Beep Test/Shuttle Run Course trains candidates to build endurance and pacing, ensuring they confidently meet the required level.
Stage 3: Cognitive Ability and Psychometric Assessment
Candidates complete tests evaluating cognitive and psychometric abilities. The Cognitive Aptitude Course sharpens skills in problem-solving, reasoning, and communication, while the Psychometric Personality Course prepares candidates for personality evaluations, helping them align responses with TFS values.
Stage 4: Physical Abilities Assessment
Candidates demonstrate their physical capability through job-specific tasks. AFA’s PAT Course builds functional strength, stamina, and endurance, ensuring candidates are prepared for the demands of this stage.
Stage 5: Review of Written Application and Shortlisting for Interview
Applications are reviewed and shortlisted for interviews. The Resume Builder Course ensures candidates present themselves effectively, increasing their chances of being shortlisted.
Stage 6: Medical Assessment
Candidates undergo a comprehensive medical evaluation. The Medical Screening Course guides candidates in preparing required documentation and meeting TFS health standards.
Stage 7: Interview
Candidates participate in interviews to demonstrate their suitability for the firefighter role. AFA’s Panel Interview Course teaches candidates to deliver structured, impactful responses aligned with TFS values, while the Online Interview Course prepares candidates for virtual interview settings.
Stage 8: Referee Reports
Referee checks validate a candidate’s suitability. AFA’s Fortnightly Online Sessions with Firefighters provide guidance on ensuring referees effectively highlight the candidate’s strengths.
Stage 9: Pre-Employment Check and Final Selection
Candidates complete final checks before being offered employment. The Application Readiness Course ensures all required documentation and checks are met.
Post-Employment: Recruit Training
Once hired, candidates must complete recruit training. AFA’s Recruit Course Prep builds the physical, mental, and teamwork skills needed to excel in training, while Fortnightly Online Sessions with Firefighters provide ongoing mentorship to help candidates transition into their new role.
