Step 1: Online Application
Candidates submit an online application. AFA’s Resume Builder Course helps craft professional and impactful applications, while the Application Readiness Course ensures candidates meet all FRV eligibility requirements and submit accurate documentation.
Step 2: Written Selection Test
Candidates complete written assessments to demonstrate cognitive abilities. AFA’s Cognitive Aptitude Course provides targeted preparation for verbal, numerical, and abstract reasoning tests, building confidence and test-taking skills.
Step 3: Group Assessment
Candidates participate in group activities to evaluate teamwork and communication. AFA’s Group Interview Course enhances collaboration, problem-solving, and communication skills to help candidates excel in group scenarios.
Step 4: Shuttle Run
Candidates must meet a specified fitness level in a shuttle run test. AFA’s Beep Test/Shuttle Run Course trains candidates to build cardiovascular endurance and pacing to confidently pass this stage.
Step 5: Personality Profile
Candidates complete a personality assessment to evaluate alignment with FRV values. AFA’s Psychometric Personality Course guides candidates through these evaluations, helping them align responses with the qualities sought in firefighters.
Step 6: Selection Interview
Candidates participate in interviews to assess suitability for the role. AFA’s Panel Interview Course prepares candidates to deliver structured, impactful responses aligned with FRV’s expectations.
Step 7: Order of Merit
Candidates are ranked based on performance across all stages. AFA’s courses ensure candidates perform strongly in every phase, increasing their chances of securing a high rank.
Step 8: Physical Aptitude Test (PAT)
Candidates complete job-specific physical tasks. AFA’s PAT Course builds the strength, endurance, and functional fitness needed to excel in the physically demanding PAT.
Step 9: Pre-Employment Medical Assessment
Candidates undergo comprehensive medical evaluations to determine fitness for firefighting duties. The Medical Screening Course helps candidates prepare documentation and meet FRV’s medical standards.
Step 10: Selection Process
Final evaluations and checks are conducted. AFA’s Application Readiness Courseensures all requirements, including documentation and compliance checks, are met.
Step 11: Offer of Employment
Successful candidates receive an offer to join the recruit training program. AFA’s Recruit Course Prep ensures candidates are mentally and physically prepared for training, while Fortnightly Online Sessions with Firefighters provide mentorship and support for transitioning into their new role.
